SPECTRAVET TEAM & HISTORY
Meet our Team
Technology alone can’t achieve much, but when combined with an amazing team the possibilities are endless
SpectraMedics Pty Ltd
Peter Jenkins in partnership with his uncle, Kerry Tume, who had been involed with laser therapy for over a decade at that time, founded SpectraMedics in October 1996. Shortly thereafter, having brought Peter up to speed on laser therapy and the state of the Australia therapeutic laser market, Kerry left SpectraMedics to concentrate on his own business interests.
For the next three years, SpectraMedics got by manufacturing The Winning Edge greyhound laser and the CompuLase medical acupuncture unit, and Peter devoured every scrap of information he could obtain to increase his knowledge and understanding of laser phototherapy and therapeutic lasers – something he still does to this day.
In 1999 Peter made a strategic decision to specialise in the development and manufacture of veterinary lasers, and with the continuing production of The Winning Edge laser, began the history of the SpectraVET brand.
To help develop and produce the original SpectraVET product line, Peter enlisted the expertise of Bill Carver, mechanical engineer, and Olivier Rochesson, electronics engineer, both of whom are still involved with the ongoing development and manufacture of the SpectraVET range. The core technologies and product platforms designed by this trio have proven to be very flexible, reliable and effective, and over the years various components have proceeded to market not only in our own products, but also inside other well-known companies’ laser devices. The best new developments, however, are always reserved for the SpectraVET name.
The SpectraVET brand took on a life of its own in 2005, when Peter moved to the USA and formed SpectraVET Inc. Since then, Peter and his wife, Molly, have built upon the original product’s success in the Australian and New Zealand markets to expand the SpectraVET range, create new product lines, and develop a network of representatives and authorised service centers around the world. SpectraMedics continues to provide this supporting role for Australia, New Zealand and the East Asian region.
